Sprint and Pitch Event Highlights Support for Creative Industries

On 10th October 2024, SPECTRA held its second Sprint and Pitch session, a key initiative aimed at supporting businesses in the creative sector. This event, organised as part of the SPECTRA project, featured four selected companies—two based in Ireland and two in Bulgaria—who were given the opportunity to present their business ideas to an expert panel of investors.

The companies were chosen following an open call on the F6S platform, and a panel composed of SPECTRA partners evaluated the submissions. The selected businesses showcased their innovation and vision in front of a diverse group of Irish and Bulgarian investors, experts in EU funding, and SPECTRA partners. Each pitch received constructive feedback and guidance from the panel, with the ultimate aim of enhancing access to finance opportunities within the creative industries.

A core objective of the SPECTRA project is to help creative sector businesses connect with investors and experts, providing them with essential opportunities for dialogue and collaboration. The Sprint and Pitch event was a prime example of this, offering participants tailored advice on refining their pitches and navigating EU funding opportunities.

The session was expertly moderated by Thierry Baujard, Managing Director of Media Deals, a pan-European investment network focusing on the creative industries. Thierry, who also co-founded SpielFabrique, brought over 25 years of experience in financing strategies within the creative sectors, further enriching the session. Additional expert advice was provided by Stephen Geary, Funding Support Manager at Galway City Innovation District | PorterShed, and Marilyn Gaughan Reddan, CEO of Galway Culture Company, both recognised leaders in EU funding support. They have been instrumental in driving SPECTRA’s mission to demystify EU projects and funding for creative businesses through initiatives like this.

The success of this event highlights the crucial role of collaboration and expert guidance in empowering creative companies to grow and succeed. SPECTRA continues to facilitate such vital interactions, ensuring businesses in the creative industries have the tools and knowledge they need to thrive.
